Dr. Shari Simon received her medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. Following medical school, Dr. Simon completed her internship in Internal Medicine and UMDNJ – NJ in Stratford, NJ and her residency in Internal Medicine at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ.
After completing her residency, Dr. Simon joined the medical community in Southern New Jersey, working as a physician and educator at a large hospital system. She provided comprehensive primary care to a large patient population and also served as a mentor to medical students, interns and residents.
In addition, Dr. Simon has worked for the Department of Developmental Disability with an all female population tasked with treating and educating the communities of Lakewood and Camden on important issues regarding Women’s Health.
Dr. Simon has also worked in an Urgent Care environment where she became keenly aware of the very important relationship between a patient and a primary physician. Treating patient without a medical home struck Dr. Simon as a failure in the current medical system. This experience brought Dr. Simon back to her roots in Primary Care where she intends to build strong and lasting relationships with her patients.
Dr Simon has been active in the New Jersey Osteopathic Physicians Medical Society as Vice President since 2004 to help better the communication between physicians and their patients. She believes strongly in shared medical decision making between a well informed patient and a caring and knowledgeable doctor.
When Dr. Simon is away from the office, she enjoys swimming, dancing, bowling and playing the guitar. She also enjoys visiting her son and daughter on their colleges campuses.
